The victim of a shooting in Richmond on Friday succumbed to his injuries today, and the suspected murderer is in custody, police said.
Darrell Gibson, 55, of Richmond was shot in the head shortly after 2 p.m. Friday in a home in the 900 block of S. 45th Street, according to the Richmond Police Department. Gibson was subsequently airlifted to a trauma center.
Richmond homicide detectives learned Gibson had been in an argument with a woman who retrieved a firearm and shot him. Detectives identified the suspect as 32-year-old Mildred Lawson of Richmond. With help from police patrols, Lawson’s vehicle was located early Saturday in the city, police said. Detectives established a surveillance at the location and ultimately arrested Lawson.
The shooting marked Richmond’s fifth homicide of 2020.
