A man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault on a woman who was walking for exercise in Richmond earlier this month.
And now Detectives are looking into the possibility that there may be additional victims of the suspect, identified as Delon Ward.
On Friday, July 19, the victim was walking in the area of 16th Street and Portola Avenue when she noticed a man walking behind her, police said.
She initially didn’t worry about the man and continued exercising, but was moments later grabbed from behind, forced against a parked car and sexually assaulted by the suspect, who was armed with a firearm, police said.
Police were called and they searched the area for the suspect to no avail. However, Richmond police detectives investigated, contacted several witnesses and followed up on leads. They eventually identified the suspect as Ward.
Ward was arrested and found in possession of the clothing worn in the commission of the crime, as well as an airsoft pistol matching the description of the weapon used, police said.
Other who may have been victims of Ward, or you know of someone who is, are asked to contact Detective Barbara at [email protected] or call (510) 965-4965.
