Richmond’s downtown park, called the Community Green Space, received a much-needed sprucing ahead of summer on Saturday thanks to volunteers and a collaboration between the Richmond Main Street Initiative and the West Coast Chess Alliance.
The 3rd annual Spring Clean-Up and Chess in the Park involved raking and removing obstructive plants at the park at Harbour Way and Macdonald Avenue. The result? Dozens of full trash bins, and a spruced up park to play in. When the gardening work was done, folks played chess in the park.
Clean-up efforts will support an ongoing beautification effort downtown and prep for upcoming summer events such as the Healthy Village Festival on June 29.
We were there and grabbed some photos and video. Enjoy, and thanks to the volunteers and organizers.
