AC Transit fares will increase on July 1, with the adult cash fare rising from $2.35 to $2.50, and the youth/senior/disabled pass rising from $1.15 to $1.25.

The adult 31-day pass will not increase, remaining at $84.60. The cost for the youth/senior/disabled 31-day passes will, however, increase, from $30 to $34.

The fare changes are part of a five-year plan that will increase prices every other fiscal year until it reaches $3 for the adult cash fare and $99 for the 31-day adult pass by 2024. The fare structure, which can be viewed below, was approved by the AC Transit board of directors in March.

AC Transit said the fare increases are needed to provide safe and efficient service amid rising operational costs.
