Those anticipating a new 99 Ranch Market at The Shops at Hilltop may toast a decision by the Richmond Planning Commission earlier this month to approve a conditional use permit for the store to sell alcoholic beverages.

The 31,500 square-foot grocery store is set to open at the southeast corner of the mall at 2200 Hilltop Mall Road this fall or winter, according to city documents. The store will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and have about 65 employees.

A security camera system will be installed that can view all parts of the store, according to owner LBG Hilltop LLC.

As we’ve reported, the long-troubled 77-acre mall property is undergoing a significant renovation under new ownership, with short term improvements to the shopping center itself and long term plans including a hotel, office space and potentially over 3,500 housing units.

In August last year, LBG Hilltop LLC received approval from the city’s design review board to make significant facade improvements at the mall.
