A suspect fleeing police crashed a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Carlson and Cutting boulevards early Sunday, police said.
The incident unfolded when a patrol sergeant conducted a traffic stop at 23rd Street and Exchange Place. The driver told the officer he was on parole for robbery, then suddenly fled in the vehicle, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said.
After crashing the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot, but was subsequently found hiding on the roof of a house in the 500 block of Spring Street, Walle said.
The suspect, who was arrested, had stolen the car just minutes for police made the traffic stop, officers learned.
