An emerging 13-year-old rap artist from Richmond decided to celebrate his birthday last weekend by giving back to his community.

One5mani, known to his teachers as Eric Harris Jr., is the youngest artist on the Brand New Money ENT label. On Sunday, he put on a Back-to-School backpack drive at the newly built Unity Park on the Richmond Greenway, with help from Brand New Money colleague Doc Dolla, or Halston Williams.

Despite a larger-than-expected turnout, there were “plenty of backpacks for everyone, which were filled with school supplies,” along with food and live music, Doc Dolla said.

There were also jumpers and games for the kids to play and of course the day’s highlight: a performance by One5mani.

“It was a chance for his fans and followers to see him perform and showcase his talent, as well as celebrate his birthday with him,” Doc Dolla said.

The mic was also open for all the kids that wanted to express themselves and perform their own songs.

“Thank you to everyone for coming out to support the kids and a huge thank you to the sponsors; Eric Harris of Brand New Money ENT and Peter Best of The Best Foundation,” Doc Dolla said.
