Dream of seeing your name in the big lights? Flo Wiley will host an Actors Workshop for adults on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in February and March at CoBiz Richmond. The fee to attend the 8-week, 90-minute sessions is $240 and the registration deadline is Jan. 28.

In workshops of up to 25 people, adult students will learn basic acting techniques, movement and breathing, terminology, individual and group work in monologues, scenes and improvisation, according to Wiley. She said the workshops are open to those age 18 and older coming from all levels of experience.

“Theater is my ancestral home in the arts, and I am eager to share the benefit of my experience and connections, said Wiley, who used to work for Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI). She launched Spirit & Image Entertainment LLC because she wanted “to actively participate in creating a bigger presence for theatre in the Richmond cultural mix.”

Wiley is a good fit for the role, holding a BA in Drama from Cal State East Bay and having taught acting for nearly five decades. She’s also appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., among many other theatres, and has directed her own productions.

CoBiz Richmond, where the Acting Workshops are being held, is located at 1503 Macdonald Ave. in downtown Richmond, a quick walk from the Richmond BART Station. To register, which includes completing an application, contact Wiley at [email protected].
