The popular Trick-or-Treat on 23rd Street event has been canceled for a second straight year due to concerns over COVID-19 safety, organizers announced.
The community event, part of an effort to revitalize the 23rd Street corridor, was last held for the fourth time in 2019. Along with businesses along the corridor passing out candy to trick-or-treaters, the event typically features several stops along the corridor with live entertainment and fun Halloween activities.
“We are sad to have to make this announcement again this year, but as this is a very large event that is specifically organized for young children and their families, we would be remiss to put their safety at risk, considering they are not able to be vaccinated yet,” organizers stated on Facebook, adding, “Hoping next year will be better!”
