This year’s Downtown Holiday Festival will be going virtual, but rest assured it will include a sleigh-full of Richmond merriment. The annual seasonal event hosted by Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI) and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts (EBCPA) will air on Wed., Dec. 16 on Zoom and YouTube Live.
According to RMSI, the evening of yuletide cheer will kick off with “Storytime with Santa” at 6 p.m., followed by “A Richmond Nutcracker” at 6:30 p.m. To participate, community members can RSVP to watch via Zoom (and chat live with the North Pole) or tune in via YouTube Live.
“The Downtown Holiday Festival is a very special event for our organizations,” said Alicia Gallo, RMSI’s programs and communications manager. “We were really struggling with the prospect of having to cancel it due to the COVID19 pandemic. So we all put our heads together and came up with a virtual program that would bring Santa and A Richmond Nutcracker to Richmond families safely.”
The virtual Downtown Holiday Festival is made possible with generous support from Travis Credit Union and the City of Richmond.
