San Pablo police recovered 600 pounds of stolen copper wire worth about $10,000 during a traffic stop on Thursday.
Officers were patrolling the city when they came upon a stolen vehicle containing three people. They pulled the car over, detained all three individuals and searched the car, uncovering the heaps of copper wire.
An AT&T representative responded to the scene and identified the copper wire as AT&T property. The copper wire was returned to AT&T and the vehicle was returned to its owner, police said.
“These suspects earned themselves a spot on Santa’s naughty list, and were booked into county jail,” police said.
