CHP detectives are investigating a shooting on westbound I-80 near the San Pablo Dam Road offramp that injured one person at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim was reportedly not struck by gunfire but rather injured by shattered glass and drove on their own to the hospital for treatment, the CHP said. Officers responded to the hospital to interview the witness, who provided information about the crime, including the location of the shooting.
The westbound lanes of I-80 at San Pablo Dam Road were closed at about 4:20 p.m. Monday to allow for the crime scene investigation. The lanes were reopened about 20 minutes later, the CHP said.
CHP detectives are actively attempting to determine a motive and identify the suspect(s) and vehicle(s) involved.
