A man was arrested in Pinole after he allegedly pointed a gun at people on San Pablo Avenue, then walked away and fired off a round in the air, early this morning.

At about 1:50 a.m., Pinole police officers responded to the 600 block of San Pablo Avenue when they were flagged down about the armed suspect.

“The victims stated the suspect pointed a firearm at them, walked away, and then fired a single round into the air,” police said, adding that no one was injured.

The suspect was located and detained and a loaded 9mm Glock-style handgun was recovered. The suspect, whose identity wasn’t released, was booked at Martinez Detention Facility for negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of an illegal firearm, police said.
