Several locks preventing public access to the El Cerrito High School sports fields and courts during the COVID-19 lockdown were found sheared off Sunday night, police said.
The broken locks were discovered by a school resource officer.
“School officials installed locks on gates in an effort to prevent the spread of illness,” police said in a statement. “However, someone has taken it upon themselves to repeatedly open gates to the fields and courts.”
Police warn enforcement action will be taken on anyone violating the shelter-in-place orders on school grounds.
