A community bulletin posted by the San Pablo Police Department led to the arrest of two homicide suspects in connection with the 2015 killing of Deon Ward.
On Monday, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed first-degree murder charges against 23-year-old Michael Collins and 30-year-old Andrew Cordova in the fatal shooting of Ward on Oct. 4, 2015. Ward was found fatally shot in the 2100 block of Stanton Avenue about 6:30 a.m., police said.
The charges came after police served search warrants early on Thursday, Sept. 12, in Rodeo, where Collins was arrested, and in Hercules, where Cordova was arrested.
The San Pablo Police Department recently released sketches of the homicide suspects in a special bulletin, which helped lead to the arrests.
“Thanks to our Community partners who stepped up and notified San Pablo PD, our Investigators were able to identify two suspects and bring them to justice,” police said.
Further details about the case were not immediately known.
