RCF Connects, formerly known as the Richmond Community Foundation, is joining together with partners to host “Uplift” Sat., Aug. 13 from 1-4 p.m., a free-admission event to “celebrate and connect our vibrant, diverse community,” per the event website. The celebration will take place in Contra Costa College’s outdoor plaza area, 2600 Mission Bell Dr. in San Pablo.

“Music, fun, food, community, unity and joy” will be at the heart of the Saturday celebration, which will include a variety of “zones” with different experiences. A Community Partner Zone will have local support programs offering helpful resources, while the RCF Connects Experience will include a photo booth, mocktails, a chance meet the organization’s board/staff and to check out its new Podcast Series: Unpack the Real Stuff, Voices of Contra Costa.

Adding to the excitement will be a Kid Zone featuring fun, interactive activities for the younger set and a Music Zone with DJ Juice and musical guests Soul Mechanix. Food will be available for purchase.

“Summer is coming to a close and it’s time to gather with our community for sun, fun, music, great food, and great company,” stated organizers on the event site. “RCF Connects encourages you to build new connections and strengthen existing ones.”

Fellow event partners joining RCF Connects in hosting the event include SparkPoint Contra Costa, Ensuring Opportunity in Contra Costa, Healthy Contra Costa (formerly Healthy Richmond), Mobility LABs, Embodied Leadership Coaching, Richmond Housing Renovation Program and Equity for Black Women & Girls.

Parking at the event will be free. For more info about the Uplift celebration, and to RSVP for the free-admission event, click here.
