The Ed Fund will host a free, virtual “Soaring to Excellence” celebration Thurs., May 6 from 5-6 p.m. during which it will honor its 38th cohort of Teaching Excellence Award winners.

This year’s honorees include teachers Christina Ferry, 7-8th grade ELD at DeJean Middle School, Molly Wahl, 6th grade at Madera Elementary, Carlo Juntilla, 11-12th grade at Richmond High School and Laura Garriguez, 9-12th grade at Richmond High School. At the celebration, 10 scholarship winners will also be recognized.

Aside from hearing from the event’s honorees, virtual attendees can also anticipate special performances by the Pinole Valley High School Concert Choir and also Richmond poet laureate, Ciera-Jevae “Cici” Gordon.

There’s still time to support the celebration by signing on as a sponsor. Join this year’s early sponsors, including the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD), Chamberlin Education Foundation, Travis Credit Union Foundation and Chevron Richmond, by contacting Ed Fund Executive Director Jasmine Jones at [email protected] or by checking out the sponsorship package here.
