Although COVID-19 may have forced the temporary closure of many local businesses, Richmond’s breweries have found a way to keep the beer flowing to customers.
Richmond’s East Brother Beer Co. is offering its customers the option of either curbside pick-up or delivery.
“Like our great city’s motto, now more than ever, we embrace pride and purpose. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be part of this community; a truly resilient group of people who always come together to support each other, in good times, and in bad,” said East Brother in a statement.
Curbside pickup of East Brother beer is available seven days a week between the hours of 2-7 p.m. at its location at 1001 Canal Blvd. in Richmond. According to East Brother, beer orders should be placed online; they’ll notify customers when their order is ready and they can pick it up at the Express Booth in the taproom parking lot. Customers should park in the designated area, remain in their car and have their ID ready (which must be consistent with the name on the order). Staff (wearing gloves) will assist customers through their open car window. For more details on Curbside pickup at East Brother, click here.
Another option for East Brother customers living in Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, Pinole, El Cerrito or Albany is to have their beer delivered. The delivery fee is $5 and a minimum purchase of one case is required. Delivery days are Tuesday and Friday between 3-6 p.m.; for same-day delivery, East Brother advises to order online before 10 a.m. As with curbside orders, someone 21-plus with a valid ID that matches the online order must be home to receive the delivered beer. Over at Armistice Brewing Company in Richmond, customers can order all of the brewery’s beer to go online, with orders ready for pickup in about 35 minutes.
Armistice, which is located at 845 Marina Bay Parkway, Suite 1, in Richmond, is currently open seven days a week between 2-8 p.m. According to the brewery, customers must present their valid ID and the credit card used to purchase the beer in order to be cleared for pick up.
“Our front beer garden has plenty of space for you to wait for your growlers,” Armistice stated on its Facebook page. “We are requiring that you stand at least 6 ft. away from each other.”
Richmond’s resident nano-brewery—Origin Brewer—is also delivering 32 and 64-ounce growlers and kegs within a three mile radius of Richmond City Hall (2540 Barrett Ave, Richmond). Delivery is available seven days a week between 12-7 p.m. According to owner Michelle Baker, current beer selections are People’s Porter, Backyard IPA and Gardener’s Gose.
