Richmond Art Center to host art build ahead of city's 'No Kings/ICE Out' protest

A “No Kings/ICE Out” march is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Richmond Civic Center Plaza.

Participants plan to form a human banner before marching through the city at 10:45 a.m. and concluding with a noon rally at 25th Street and Barrett Avenue.

The rally, part of a coordinated nationwide day of protest against Trump administration policies, will feature music, speakers, and a community resource fair.

The local effort is reportedly organized by the United Teachers of Richmond, Richmond Indivisible, East Bay Democratic Socialists of America, Richmond Progressive Alliance, and Contra Costa Labor Council.

To prepare for this protest, Richmond residents are invited to an art build event this Saturday, March 21, at the Richmond Art Center located at 2540 Barrett Ave. The workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provides a space for community members to gather and craft banners or screen-print signs. This preparatory session serves as a lead-up to the main march and rally the following week.

The “No Kings” movement is a national effort that began last year to protest the Trump administration. This year, the movement expanded to include “ICE Out” initiatives, which demand the removal of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from local jurisdictions.Â
