The City of Pinole appointed Garrett Evans as its interim city manager starting March 9.
Before his retirement last year, Evans amassed 29 years of experience in local government, including a six-year term as City Manager for Pittsburg. He holds a master’s degree in public administration with a focus on intergovernmental management. Evans will lead the city while officials conduct a nationwide search for a permanent replacement.
Police Chief Melissa Klawuhn will return to her full-time role after serving as the Acting City Manager for the last three months.
The City Council has hired Bob Hall & Associates to lead the search for a permanent City Manager. The process includes outreach and a community survey to ensure the selection is inclusive. Residents can meet the recruiters and share their priorities for the next leader at the Pinole Youth Center on Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m. Input can also be submitted through an online survey.
