The City of Hercules has announced that the design phase for improvements at both Refugio Valley Park and Foxboro Park is complete and the project will soon be put out to bid. Construction is anticipated to begin around February 2026, once a contractor is selected.Â
At Refugio Valley Park, the upgrades include the installation of new shade structures in the main picnic areas, replacement of concrete pathways, and enhancements to picnic tables, barbeques, and accessible parking stalls. The project builds on earlier tree-replacement efforts: approximately 70 trees were installed in 2024 following removal of hazardous eucalyptus trees, and the picnic areas were selected for renovation in late 2023.
At Foxboro Park, improvements include resurfacing the basketball court where concrete surrounding the court will be replaced with new asphalt, a seal coat applied, and new striping and repainting. In addition, the playground will be replaced with new equipment and the deteriorated synthetic surface will be removed and replaced with up-to-date surfacing.Â
