A routine traffic stop last week led to the arrest of a convicted felon and the seizure of an illegal firearm and drugs, according to the Richmond Police Department.
The vehicle was pulled over for traffic violations at the intersection of 18th Street and Chanslor Avenue. The driver confessed to having ammunition but insisted there was no firearm in the car, police said. A search revealed a loaded firearm that was hidden. Police said they also discovered “an alarming stash of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and marijuana, all packaged for sale.”
The driver was arrested. His identity wasn’t immediately released.
