San Pablo names Maria Lara-Ojeda as new assistant city manager

Maria Lara-Ojeda was recently appointed as assistant city manager for the City of San Pablo.

In this role, she will serve as the city’s No. 2 administrator with daily management and operational oversight over all city departments. She will directly oversee the city’s Economic Development/Housing, and Human Resources/Risk Management functions in the City Manager’s office.

Lara-Ojeda recently served as assistant city manager for the City of American Canyon. She was selected for the San Pablo role from a field of 101 applicants, according to the city, which worked with executive search firm Peckham and McKenney.

In 2019, Lara-Ojeda briefly served as a consultant and interim finance director for the City of Benicia, and previously held the role of town finance director and treasurer for the Town of Yountville.

“Ms. Lara-Ojeda brings forward a strong record in public service serving in a number of local municipal organizations in the Bay Area region for the last 25 years, and has developed a diverse experience, and vast knowledge in managing administrative, budget, financial and internal operations in those cities served, and will be a valuable member of the city’s executive team,” said City Manager Matt Rodriguez.
