Local musician and author of Bird of Four Hundred Voices: A Mexican American Memoir of Music and Belonging Eugene Rodriguez will fly by the San Pablo Library to promote his new book and to give a musical performance Monday, Oct. 14 from 1-2 p.m.

The executive director of Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy will share with his hometown peeps what inspired him to write his new book, which the library describes as “a beautiful celebration of Mexican American music, art and culture.” The event is suitable for all ages.

An article on the cultural arts academy’s website by Rodriguez describes the book as chronicling the extraordinary journey of Los Cenzontles from a barrio youth group into an internationally acclaimed beacon of cultural preservation and education in San Pablo.

The library aims for the event to be an opportunity for the San Pablo community to celebrate Indigenous People’s Day, while also closing out Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month, according to Senior Community Library Manager Caroline Olsen of the San Pablo Library.

The San Pablo Library is located at 3751 San Pablo Ave. in San Pablo. Questions? Learn more here or call the library at (510) 374-3998.
