The City of Pinole is inviting the community to an event where they will be able to “interview” candidates for police chief.
The Police Chief Community Interview event will occur Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m. at the Senior Center Main Hall.
Neil H. Gang is retiring after 10 years as Pinole police chief. Currently, candidates for his successor have been narrowed down to two individuals.
During the event, each candidate will share their professional backgrounds and engage in a Q&A session. This will be followed by a “meet the candidate discussion” where community members can interact with the candidates in a more personal and informal setting.
“We believe that community involvement is critical in selecting the right leader for our police department,” said City Manager Kelcey Young. “This event ensures that our residents have a voice in this important decision and can get to know the candidates who may soon be leading our police force.”
Pinole invites community members to submit interview questions for the event. The questions will be reviewed by the city’s recruitment firm prior to being posed to the finalists.
Suggested questions should be emailed to [email protected] by Monday, Sept. 2.
