Pinole dispatcher retires after 35 years of dedicated service

After 35 years serving the city, Pinole Police Department dispatcher Debbie Pitchford worked her final shift over the weekend.

The Pinole Police Department is lauding Pitchford’s long-running “dedicated service,” saying her last shift marked the end of an “incredible career.”

“Throughout her time with us, she sacrificed countless nights working the graveyard shift to keep our community safe,” police said. “Her unwavering commitment and tireless dedication have left a lasting impact on all of us.”

The San Pablo Police Department added it will also miss Pitchford deeply, noting she’s served in Pinole since June of 1989.

This isn’t the first time Pitchford has been recognized. In 2014, she was nominated for a national award as Telecommunicator of the Year at the APCO International Awards Program, which recognizes public safety communications professionals.

“While we will miss her deeply, we wish her nothing but the best in her well-deserved retirement,” city officials said. “Thank you, Debbie, for your incredible service. We love you and are forever grateful.”
