Marcus Davis, a former standout football player and coach at Pinole Valley High School, is now the head football coach at Contra Costa College.

Davis was defensive coordinator at Pinole Valley High during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, during a time in which the Spartans won their first 7A state championship. He most recently served as special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Adrian College. Davis is also a CCC alumnus, having earned an associates degree there.

“I believe his coaching experience within our local community and at the collegiate level will make him a great leader for our football program moving forward,” said Contra Costa College Athletics Director Kyle Alvarado.

Davis transitioned from a student-athlete to a coach when he joined Pinole Valley High as a defensive backs and special teams coach from 2013-2017. He then worked as a student assistant coach for the University of Minnesota Duluth while completing a bachelor’s degree during the 2017 and 2018 football seasons.
