A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in San Pablo early Tuesday, according to police.
San Pablo police officers responded to the area of San Pablo Avenue and Broadway Avenue just after 3 a.m. on a report of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.
A man was found suffering from major injuries and, despite receiving medical treatment, he died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, a San Pablo man, and passenger, a San Pablo woman, were not injured from the collision. Impaired driving does not appear to be contributing factor in the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
“Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle was traveling northbound on San Pablo Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian in the roadway, north of Broadway Avenue,” police said. “The occupants of the vehicle remained on scene, and are cooperating with the investigation.”
The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld, pending notifications to next of kin.
