A fundraiser has been launched after a mother and one of her children were killed in a vehicular crash in Rodeo last week that was caused by a driver fleeing police.
The GoFundMe identified the victims killed in the crash as Ryniqueka Dowell, and her 6-year-old son Jamari Humble.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, a suspect in a stolen SUV led police on a short pursuit before it collided into a 2017 Nissan passenger vehicle in the area of Parker Avenue and 4th Street in Rodeo, police said.
The driver of the Mazda fled the vehicle on foot northbound onto Parker Avenue, police said. A perimeter was established, and the suspect was found at a nearby liquor store and arrested.
Dowell, the driver of the Nissan passenger vehicle, died at the scene. Her twin 6-year-old children, also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, were taken to Children’s Hospital in Oakland. One of the twins, Jamari, has since died from his injuries. His brother, Jamani, suffered a broken leg along with other injuries, the fundraiser states.
The funds raised in the GoFundMe will be used to support the family’s surviving members Jeremy and Jamani.
