Hercules Bay Front Festival & Run set for this Sunday

The Hercules Education Foundation is lacing up its sneaks to host its 2022 Annual Bay Front Festival & Run Sun., Oct. 2—an in-person and virtual 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run that will support local schools. The Bay Front Festival will follow immediately after the run.

Race times for the Bay Front Run start at 10 a.m. for the 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Runs and 11 a.m. for the Kids Fun Run grouped for ages 3-6 and ages 7-10. The race kicks off at Sanderling Dr. and Bayfront Blvd. and continues along Bayfront to the Bay Trail entrance at John Muir Pkwy., per organizers, who said that it continues on the Bay Trail through Hercules to Rodeo. The turnabout is at the end of the Bay Trail in Rodeo; participants running a 10K will loop around again.

Organizers added that runners/walkers can expect ā€œbeautiful views and a gentle breezeā€ along the Bay Trail route. As added bonuses, the firstĀ 350Ā people to register will receive a finisher medal and all preregistered runners age 13 and over will be entered to win two Southwest e-flight tickets valued at $400.

Entry fees for the 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Run/Walk is $35 for both in-person and virtual participation. The Kids Fun Run is $15/in-person. Early packet pick-up is Sat., Oct. 1 from 4-6 p.m. at The Grand at Bayfront, 2200 John Muir Parkway, Hercules. Registrations will be accepted during that timeframe as well.

Another opportunity for packet pick-up and race day registration will happen Sun., Oct. 2 at Sanderling Dr. and Bayfront Blvd. in Hercules for the 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Run/Walk from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and the Kids Fun RunĀ from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. (ages 3-10). To register in advance, click here.

Organizers said theĀ 5K and 10K Run will be chip timed/scored (bibs must be worn), with the results being posted following the event. The top female and male in the 5K and 10K will receive awards.

Following the event, the Bay Front Festival will get underway, featuring entertainment, live music by Papa Joe & the New Deal, food trucks and opportunities to shop at local small businesses and to meet community organizations.
