BART is offering a 50 percent discount for the entire month of September in celebration of the transit agency’s 50th anniversary, which falls on Sept. 11.

The reduced fare will automatically be deducted when using Clipper at the fare gates. The discount is only available when using Clipper.

Riders who already benefit from Clipper discounts will additionally benefit from the September discount, with holders of the youth Clipper card receiving a 50 percent discount, seniors getting a 62.5 percent discount, Clipper START holders receiving a 20 percent discount and those with the RTC Clipper card getting a 62.5 percent discount.

Along with the discounted fares, BART will host free, family-friendly events, including free live concerts at its stations. The first concert will be held at Downtown Berkeley Station from 5 p.m. to 630 p.m. on Sept. 21. On Sept. 28, the music travels to El Cerrito del Norte Station from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.
