A residential development with market-rate and afforable for-sale housing will be built at the former Doctor’s Medical Center site at 2151 Appian Way in Pinole, across the street from Pinole Middle School.

Earlier this month, the Pinole Planning Commission approved plans for “Appian Village,” which will feature 26 buildings with 154 units of housing.

“The units would be offered in stacked flat (where each unit is above/below each other) and townhome (where each unit is side by side) configurations with sizes ranging from 1,400 – 1,800 square feet,” the city said. “The applicant will be installing all new infrastructure (water, sewer, storm drainage, and streets) as well as all new curb, gutter, sidewalks, landscaping, paseos (pedestrian pathways), turf areas and a children’s outdoor/play area.”

Of the 154 for-sale units, 31 will be set aside as affordable units to moderate and low-income households, the city said.

Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2023 and continue for about three years. Demolition of the old buildings at the site is expected to begin this coming summer and will take about a half a year, the city said.

“Home sales are projected to commence in the Fall of 2023,” the city said.
