An upcoming free online seminar aims to show prospective home buyers that ownership is closer than they may think. Hosted by the San Pablo EDC, “Your Pathway to Home Ownership” will be offered in both English and Spanish Thurs., Feb. 25 from 5-5:45 p.m. and will feature insights from insurance, real estate and lending professionals, as well as first-time home buyer program staff.
According to seminar organizers, participants will receive guidance on setting financial goals, creating a budget, reducing debt and making sense of their credit score. Also covered will be the ins and outs of preparing for homeownership, what to expect in the mortgage loan process, the various types of loans available and mortgage loan application criteria.
Seminar leaders will share the home buying process steps, such as shopping for a home, making an offer, the closing period and home buying professionals that offer assistance during the process. In addition, participants will get the 411 on local programs available to first-time home buyers and the criteria for qualifying for those programs.
According to Marco Rodriguez of the MVRod Team, resources available to home buyers include “a City program that will help lend up to $50,000 towards the purchase of a home in the City of San Pablo.”
