An out-of-control pickup truck smashed through the concrete barrier of a Pinole overpass before dropping nose-first onto the freeway Sunday afternoon, according to police.
The driver of the white Toyota Tacoma was found conscious following the solo-vehicle crash that occurred at about 3:55 p.m. at Appian Way.
The driver had been making a left turn onto southbound Appian Way when they lost control of their vehicle and drove up onto the curb, police said. The truck then crashed through the concrete barrier before dropping on the freeway nose first. The vehicle then rolled onto the roof before landing upright, police said.
Further details about what caused the crash, and the condition of the driver, weren’t immediately available.
“No other vehicles were involved and two lanes on westbound highway 80 were closed for about an hour,” police said.
