In a move that shows beer drinking can help save the world, The Factory Bar is donating all the proceeds of its sales of Del Cielo & Ghost Town Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout to Richmond/San Pablo-area nonprofit House of Loving Hands.
According to co-owner Tom Lyons, sales proceeds of the imperial stout will be donated while supplies last, which is anticipated to be through the end of October. “With the holidays coming up, they are going to be helping a lot of people in need” with the “amazing things they are doing,” Lyons said of Housing of Loving Hands.
“We are elated to have connected with Michelle and Tom that own The Factory Bar in Richmond,” said Deneshia Clemons, founder of House of Loving Hands. “We [are] honored to [be receiving] a donation from them that will be used towards our holiday goals which will be to continue our support in assisting domestic violence victims and their children with emergency shelter, food, clothes and resources.”
Amid the pandemic, House of Loving Hands has also launched a COVID-19 food program that has thus far provided assistance to 125 families who have been impacted by the health crisis.
As part of the nonprofit’s holiday outreach—which will be bolstered by The Factory’s imperial stout sales—House of Loving Hands “will be passing out 100 turkeys and 50 hams with fresh produce for Thanksgiving,” according to Clemons. “We will also be feeding the homeless for Thanksgiving, and last but not least, we will have a toy giveaway with food baskets and gift cards for families during the Christmas holiday season.”
The Factory Bar is located at 12517 San Pablo Ave. in Richmond and is currently providing service on its outdoor patio for those with reservations.
