For couples looking to get married on Valentine’s Day, consider a romantic ceremony inside the picturesque and historic John Muir House in Martinez.

In partnership with the National Park Service, the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder will host weddings inside the John Muir House from 10:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 14. There are 16 appointments available for this “Destination Wedding” opportunity.

In September, the county offered “Destination Weddings” at the scenic Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front Historic Park in Richmond.

“We are excited to once again partner with the National Park Service and the staff of the John Muir National Historic Site to give couples this memorable opportunity on Valentine’s Day,” Clerk-Recorder Joe Canciamilla said in a statement today.

Weddings will be held inside one of the well-decorated rooms of the Italianate Victorian-style home built in 1882.

“The room features an elegant chandelier, grand piano and a stunning backdrop for the ceremony with an archway in front of a window overlooking the property,” county officials said.

Couples interested in a ceremony at the John Muir House should call (925) 335-7900 or go to www.contracostacore.us and click on the “Make a Ceremony Appointment” button.

Couples can also make appointments to have their Valentine’s Day wedding ceremony at the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder Office, at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez.  Appointment times are from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Walk-in couples are welcome and will be accommodated based on availability of ceremony rooms, although appointments are recommended as space on Valentine’s Day fills quickly.
