El Cerrito police are investigating a shooting that injured a man on the Ohlone Greenway on Friday.
Just after 3 p.m., police were called to a shooting on the pathway just north of Blake Street and found a 39-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, police said.
Officers were told the victim was riding his bicycle when he ended up in an argument with two suspects walking on the path. One of the pedestrians pulled out a firearm during the dispute and shot at the bicyclist before fleeing the area.
The suspects, described as a man and woman, were not located after police searched the area.
“At this time, there is no known threat to the public safety,” police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call the El Cerrito PD Tip Line at (510) 215-4414 ext. 40 or email, [email protected].
