The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has postponed the 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CIF collaborated with its 10 Sections in the state to modify the season. The North Coast Section, which governs high school sports within West County, released a schedule in conjunction with the CIF announcement. The schedule sets the first day of football, volleyball, cross country and water polo practice, traditionally fall sports, for Dec. 14. Section championships occur from late March to mid-April.

For Spring sports, boys and girls soccer are set to have their first practices Feb. 22. First practice for swimming, tennis and wrestling is set for March 8, and for softball, baseball, basketball, golf and track & field it is March 15. Section championships for Spring sports will occur from late May through late June.

The schedule, of course, is subject to change based upon guidance by public health officials.

Due to the schedule changes, the CIF has temporarily suspended bylaws prohibiting students from participating in contests for outside teams during the high school season.
