Two San Pablo Cowboys teams are headed to the American Youth Football Big West regional championships this weekend, as each have enjoyed undefeated seasons.
The Cowboys’ 8-under team, which defeated the Vallejo Jags 33-7 in the semi-finals last weekend to improve to 9-0, is set to play in the NorCal championships Saturday, 2 p.m. at Burbank High in Sacramento.
Meanwhile, the Cowboy’s 6-under team, which won the semi-final game 24-0 over the Sacramento Panthers last weekend and is similarly 9-0, is set to play in the NorCal championship game on Sunday at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.
The 8-Under team has launched GoFundMe account here with the aim of raising funds to travel to the Big West AYF Regionals in San Diego the weekend of Nov. 16-17, and, with a win there, at the AYF Nationals in Orlando, Florida, in early December.
8-Under Coach Garice Tate Jr. called it a “very exciting time” and a follow up to an amazing season.
“Thank you to the generous donors and sponsors that have donated to our fundraising so far,” Tate said. “With your help these kids from our little city can experience a rare opportunity to travel and make forever lasting memories.”
