A Richmond-based youth basketball team did the Bay Area proud last weekend, bringing home the silver medal in the U.S. Open Basketball Championships in Westfield, Indiana.
The Bay Area Power 12-under team of 10 boys competed in the tournament from July 17-21 and won five of six games, falling finally in the final 42-45 to Progency 2025, a team from Indianapolis, at the Pacers Athletic Center in Westfield.
The 2019 U.S. Open Basketball Championships featured over 1,200 athletes, 122 teams from 30 states and Canada. Champions were crowned in the boys and girls 10th grade, 9th grade, 13U and 12U divisions.
Bay Area Power is ranked in the top five in Bay Area Sports basketball, having also won the 2018 Richmond Kops4kids as well as Richmond’s Candy Cane Classic.
