No matter what sends shivers up your spine, this year’s “Halloween House” at South 37th St. & Center Ave. in Richmond has a little something for everyone. Mwah-ha-ha!

The Standard recently stopped by, and although we missed the homeowners, a friendly mailman told us the family frequently decorates for holidays. He added that they always change the décor up for Halloween, so the scares stay fresh from year-to-year.

This year’s front yard cauldron of terror features numerous scary guys on the scene, ranging from Egor-inspired spectacles, to a possible former judge—with a tie on—to asylum escapees, to a towering wolfman, to Michael Myers of Halloween movie fame and more for your imagination to identify. Then there’s the skeletons, adorning the house’s chimney, wearing top hats, appearing on a “welcome” sign, donning a pinstripe suit—and more, more, more.

And the pumpkins—oh, they won’t be outdone! If you pass by you’ll spot towering pumpkin heads, Jack-o-lanterns in the clutches of skeleton hands and other insidious incarnations. Lest we forget a scary rat king, witches, creepy spiders, sprawling webs and other horrific front yard conjurings.

During our visit, multiple cars lingered longer than usual at the nearby intersection for a chance to take in the Halloween spectacle. As we began walking away, we spotted perhaps our very favorite ode-to-Halloween: The creepy clown and masked man (alien?) in the front seats of the car parked outside the house. Check out past Halloween Houses here and here.
