On Monday, Oct. 6, Hidden City Ballroom at 305 Washington Ave. in Point Richmond will host a night of swing, salutes and history in honor of Fleet Week.

In partnership with the Generations in Jazz Foundation, the event invites guests to don 1940s flair and step into an era of brass, ballroom, and big-band magic.

The evening gets started at 6:30 p.m. with dance lessons to sharpen your foxtrot, Lindy Hop, waltz, or jitterbug. At 7:30 p.m., the ballroom transforms into a roaring dance hall as live big band music fills the air and dancers take the floor in joyous tribute to wartime-era swing.

The Generations in Jazz Foundation, a Contra Costa County nonprofit, brings young musicians and seasoned performers together to keep jazz’s legacy alive. Hidden City Ballroom, a beloved Point Richmond landmark, provides the perfect stage. Its storied architecture and dance-floor character echo with the steps and rhythms of bygone eras.
