AC Transit and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office are investigating a potential domestic violence incident involving an AC Transit Bus Operator.

The incident occurred onboard a coach outside the Richmond BART Station at about 7:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25. Few details were released about the attack, which caused the bus operator to sustain superficial cuts. The victim has since been released from a local hospital.

A suspect is in custody. Mandingo Hayes, 54, of Richmond, was booked into Martinez Detention Facility this morning on charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, violating a restraining order resulting in physical injury to the protected person, and unlawful possession of tear gas.

Hayes is being held in lieu of $630,000 bail.
