A nursing college and trade school is slated to open in space within the historic Ford Point building at 1414 Harbour Way South.
The Richmond Planning Commission recently approved a conditional use permit to establish the school within about 42,672 square feet of space on the second floor of the building, in Suite 2401.Â
The proposal will convert the space into classrooms, simulation labs, administrative offices, and common areas for post‑secondary medical training, with no alterations to the building’s exterior façade.
The school is estimated to accommodate about 400 students overseen by up to a dozen faculty and staff. Less than 100 students will be present at any given time and clinical training will be emphasized. Classes will be offered between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.
“The program would focus on hands-on training by fostering intimate learning spaces like skills centers and simulation bays,” project documents state.Â
