Genevieve Beaulieu, author of a GoFundMe page supporting Jabari Muhammad of Snappers Seafood, recently shared a video of the Richmond business owner with an update about his health.

Addressing video watchers from his hospital bed, Muhammad said that “he has the C word” and estimated he will be away from the business for six months to one year. “I gotta get through it, and I will, with your help,” said Muhammad about fighting cancer while trying to keep his family business afloat.

Muhammad, who has been operating Snapper’s Seafood in Richmond for more than three decades, appealed to the local community to support his business at this challenging time by buying some fish or referring people to its catering food truck.

Concerned community members can also support Muhammad’s GoFundMe page, the contributions from which will be applied toward medical expenses, operational costs and sustaining the livelihood of a business that means so much to so many, said Beaulieu on the donation page.
