The City of Richmond’s Public Works Engineering Department will host a virtual community meeting focused on traffic calming measures at the intersection of Key Boulevard and Barrett Avenue on Wednesday, June 11, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This meeting offers residents an opportunity to learn about the project, ask questions, and share concerns directly with the city and the design team, said Richmond City Manager Sasha Curl.

The intersection of Key Boulevard and Barrett Avenue is part of the City of Richmond’s “Traffic Calming 18 Locations Project,” approved by the City Council in November 2022. The initiative aims to enhance safety on residential streets by addressing excessive vehicle speeds through various traffic calming measures.

As part of the project, a quick-build traffic circle was installed to eliminate left turns in order to reduce vehicle-pedestrian conflicts and slow down traffic. Curb extensions at all corners aim to shorten pedestrian crossing distances and improve visibility for pedestrians and drivers.
