McBryde Avenue from 37th Street to Wildcat Canyon Regional Park will soon see vehicular lane reductions along with the addition of protected bike lanes, curb ramp upgrades, high-visibility crosswalks, sidewalk extensions, realigned intersections, a traffic circle, and also new street trees.
At its upcoming meeting Tuesday, the Richmond City Council will be asked to accept and appropriate $1.028 million in One Bay Area Grant 3 (OBAG3) funding for the design and construction of the McBryde Avenue Improvement Project. The council will also be asked to award a $560,000 contract to BKF Engineers for engineering design services.
The project was identified in Richmond’s Bicycle Master Plan. It will “enhance multimodal transportation, improve safety, and create a more accessible corridor for all users,” city officials said.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission awarded the City of Richmond the $1.028 million grant in 2022, to be funded in fiscal years 2022-23 through 2025-26. A request for proposal for engineering design services was issued in November last year. BKF Engineers was identified by a city panel as the best fit.
