Richmond community members are encouraged to participate in the Spring 2025 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy, where they will learn basic skills in fire safety, medical assessment, light search and rescue and more.

Classes begin Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m.

The academy empowers community members to volunteer to help their community in times of need by providing basic skills training in fire safety, medical assessment, light search & rescue and more. No pre-requisites or special skills needed.

‘CERT training is an emergency training program to empower our community to prepare and overcome the effects of any disaster that can disrupt our daily lives,” city officials said. CERT is a federal program that is supported locally by the City of Richmond Fire Department.
