Day laborers and unhoused workers around Richmond will receive season’s greetings via 100 care packages, snack packs, pan dulce and coffee at the Uniting Hearts giveaway at Home Depot and homeless encampments Friday, Dec. 20.

But to make this heartwarming holiday effort happen, volunteer elves are greatly needed at Uniting Hearts’ “Pan Dulce & Coffee Giveaway” Friday, as well as the night before the event. “We are seeking volunteers to pack the care packages on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. in San Pablo and also to distribute them on the morning of the event,” said an organizer.

Care packages will include essentials like warm gloves, beanies, safety vests, safety glasses and hygiene products, according to Uniting Hearts.

The events—which include a separate “Toy Giveaway” Sunday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children ages 2-15 years old (children must be present) at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1845 Church Ln. in San Pablo—are only possible thanks to volunteers and individual donors said the nonprofit.
