Richmond police made nine arrests and impounded four vehicles for 30 days on suspicion of participating in a large sideshow early Saturday.

Officers responded around 12:21 a.m. to a sideshow in the 1300 block of Canal Boulevard. They encountered over 200 participants and over 50 vehicles, police said.

Participants dispersed when they saw police, some driving over sidewalks and medians or on the wrong side of the street while fleeing.

Officers used spike strips to disable one of the vehicles and arrest the occupants, police said.
